Question 1

What exactly is Seacareer.net?

Accepted Answer

Seacareer.net is a comprehensive digital maritime ecosystem designed to bridge Merchant Navy seafarers, licensed RPSL crewing agencies, DOC ship managers, and DG-approved maritime training institutes. The platform streamlines maritime recruitment, value-added course bookings, digital sea-time logging, and compliant industry collaboration.

Question 2

Who is eligible to join and use the platform?

Accepted Answer

The portal serves four key stakeholders across the global shipping sector: certified seafarers (deck officers, marine engineers, electro-technical officers, and ratings), licensed RPSL manning agencies, ship owning/management companies, and maritime training academies offering STCW and value-added marine courses.

Question 3

How does Seacareer.net work?

Accepted Answer

Getting started is straightforward: select your stakeholder category (Seafarer, RPSL Agency, Ship Manager, or Maritime Academy), verify your official credentials, and set up your digital profile. Seafarers can immediately discover vessel billets and reserve course batches, while recruiters can filter and shortlist verified crew.

Question 4

Is Seacareer.net a crewing or manning agency?

Accepted Answer

No. Seacareer.net is an independent digital maritime technology platform and job network. We do not act as an employer, operate vessels, or make individual hiring determinations. We connect mariners directly with verified employers, approved academies, and licensed crewing agencies.

Question 5

Is Seacareer.net 100% free for seafarers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Seafarers can register, maintain their digital sea-service logbook, explore active ship vacancies, and communicate with verified maritime employers without paying any subscription fees.

Question 6

Are there any recruitment, registration, or placement charges for seafarers?

Accepted Answer

Never. In strict adherence to the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), Seacareer.net strictly prohibits charging seafarers any recruitment, placement, or processing fees. The platform operates independently to provide transparent career access.

Question 7

Who advertises vessel vacancies on the network?

Accepted Answer

Job listings are posted exclusively by verified shipowners, DOC-holding ship managers, and licensed RPSL agencies actively recruiting certified crew for their commercial fleets.

Question 8

What maritime documentation should I prepare when creating my profile?

Accepted Answer

Required documents correspond with your rank and target vessel type. Typically, seafarers upload their valid Passport, Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC / Seaman’s Book), Certificate of Competency (CoC) or Proficiency (CoP), DG-approved Medical Fitness Certificate, and relevant STCW modular certificates or flag endorsements.

Question 9

How much time does registration take?

Accepted Answer

Initial account creation takes under two minutes. You can then progressively upload your past sea-service records, store your marine documents in your secure vault, and start applying for vessel vacancies.

Question 10

Is my personal data and documentation visible to the general public?

Accepted Answer

No. Your personal contact numbers, passport details, and sensitive certificates are securely protected. They are never exposed publicly and can only be inspected by authorized, verified employers and RPSL agencies when you apply or enable profile visibility.

Question 11

How do you prevent stale or outdated seafarer resumes?

Accepted Answer

Unlike static resume repositories, Seacareer.net uses live availability toggles. Seafarers can switch their status (e.g., Available Immediately, On Leave, or Currently Onboard) and update contract sign-off dates directly, ensuring recruiters only reach ready candidates.

Question 12

Do RPSL and crewing agencies have to pay to access the portal?

Accepted Answer

No. Licensed RPSL agencies and ship managers can register their organization, post open vessel requirements, run targeted crew searches across ranks, and review pre-screened applicant profiles free of charge.

Question 13

Can our agency post vacancies and manage incoming crew applications?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Registered employers can publish detailed vacancy listings specifying vessel type, required rank, GRT/BHP limits, and target join date, receiving filtered applications straight into their hiring dashboard.

Question 14

Can employers filter candidates by specific sea-going criteria?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The smart search system allows you to pinpoint talent by exact rank, vessel class experience (e.g., Oil/Chemical Tanker, Container, Bulk Carrier, LNG/LPG, Offshore DP), certificate validity, and immediate readiness to join.

Question 15

Can recruiters inspect candidate certificates and sea-service records?

Accepted Answer

Verified agencies and managers can review the relevant documentation, CDC voyage records, CoC endorsements, and STCW certificates provided by the candidate as part of their hiring evaluation.

Question 16

What geographical regions and nationalities do your seafarers represent?

Accepted Answer

Seacareer.net hosts a global network of maritime professionals across primary seafaring hubs worldwide, covering deck, engine, electro-technical, and catering ranks across all commercial vessel categories.

Question 17

What types of Maritime Value Added Courses and Marine Training are available?

Accepted Answer

Maritime academies on Seacareer.net list DG Shipping approved value-added courses including High Voltage Safety (HV), Bridge Team Management (BTM), Engine Room Simulator (ERS), ECDIS Type-Specific Training, Ballast Water Management (BWM), and Ship Security Officer (SSO) courses.

Question 18

Accepted Answer

Question 19

How do Maritime Colleges manage batch schedules and seat bookings?

Accepted Answer

DG-approved maritime academies have a dedicated College Dashboard to publish upcoming course batches, set seat quotas, manage trainee admissions, and track compliance certifications.
